As a Teaching Artist students join me for a dialogue-based tour focusing on current exhibitions at the MCA and an interactive studio workshop component. This two hour experience focuses on conversations, participatory experiences and art making in the galleries for 1st to 12th grade Chicago Public School students. Our main goal is to ensure students attained agency as critical interpreters of contemporary art, ideas, and issues. Students have a chance to debate, discuss, and connect to works of art through visits to the museum. This program uses contemporary art and ideas to sharpen students’ critical thinking skills so that they engage in collaborative dialogue and inquiry.
